Rainmeter, the best widget platform for Windows is getting better with the release of its version 3.0 beta. Rainmeter is ditching the old GDI+ rendering system for more powerful Direct2D rendering method. The small text will now look more clear and graphics will be sharper.

Rainmeter 3.0 fully supports skins written for earlier versions, and users can simply upgrade their existing installations. There is no need to uninstall or change any existing setup to use the new beta version.

Windows 8.1 will have a Start button

Microsoft killed the Start Button with Windows 8 but it's now going to revive it with the release of Windows 8.1. But there won't be the traditional Start Menu, instead clicking on the button will simply launch the Start Screen. The button will look similar to the existing Windows flag used in the Charm bar. It's also a possibility that Microsoft will add an option to allow users to boot directly to the desktop mode.

Bing search results bring up 5 times more malware websites than Google

A detailed AV-TEST study recently revealed that although search engine operators such as Google and Bing make a lot of effort to avoid doing so, they sometimes deliver websites infected with Trojans and similar malware among their top search results. Other search engines do an even worse job.

AV-TEST took 18 months to carry out a study that would confirm its initial suspicion, namely that the best-known search engines Google and Bing are being used to include websites containing malware among the top search results delivered to users. This exploitation of search engines is causing their operators to be tripped up by their very own systems. During its study, the institute investigated over 40 million websites delivered as search engine results.

Go to Bing.com and type in “Google” in the search box. You will be provided with a mockup of the Google search page that gives two different options, to either start a search or hit the “I’m Feeling Confused” button.
