This is what Larry Page said:

"I’ve personally been quite sad at the industry’s behavior around all these things. If you take something as simple as IM, we’ve had an open offer to interoperate forever….Just this week Microsoft took advantage of that by interoperating with us. You can’t have people milking off of just one company.”

Microsoft has altered its minimum hardware requirements for Windows 8 tablets ahead the launch of new 7-inch devices. The company now allows hardware makers to create Windows 8 tablets with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768. Microsoft previously required that all Windows 8 tablets would have a minimum display resolution of 1366 x 768.

Windows 8 Snap View feature to run apps side-by-side doesn't work in this low resolution but the leaked build of Windows Blue has revealed that Microsoft is now changing its Snap View feature to let the users of 1024 x 768 resolution to take advantage of a 50 / 50 Snap View.
