But yeah, u are right, there simply isnt any api that allows to replace a particular color (except black) with glass. So no luck. :(

I know other method for that, but actually it's no reasonable for use.

BTW, I am not using DwmEnableBlurBehind. I am extending the frame from the bottom of the window to get the "sheet-of-glass" kinda thing.

DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea and DwmEnableBlurBehind - one family, by meaning of DWM.

I know that Ma'am :D But there is no good documentation I can find.

I can recommend MSDN as it has good documentation of DWM and it's functions. Still using complex HRGN wouldn't be good idea from performance side.

Overall as window isn't prepared for such use - results are unstable.

Masking mechanism is named HRGN in DWMEnableBlurBehind. Moreover this function is unsafe to global unprepared use, as it is altering whole colour map not only treating black as one.

If You have time and knowledge - keep working with Linux. It gives much more chances to develop oneself - and I must admit I always found people who were motivated enough and capable of handling such projects more valuable than anyone.

Good nice looking distro, with nice configuration panel(yes! that's the key to the succes with Linux) is worth everything :D and as You seem to like such work: I mean, create frontends (like Your dictionary project, WM toolbar), design GUI it seems to be best suited for You in my opinion.
