zobi2 install Vista on a separate hard disk partition.
Don't install it over Windows XP.

meaning that i burn it to a cd....and install it at a different placce then XP?

yes, on a different partition meaning a different drive. ( Local Disk C: XP Local Disk D: Vista)
You can also use image drive programs as well. I do when I install it. Saves dvds :)

So, if im on a laptop with only one hdd, i should create a new partition. tell vista to install to that partition. then when i dont want it anymore (like when it is july and it doesnt work), i just format the partition? do i need to do any thing to the master boot record? and if i really screw up, will my recovery dvd's i made get me out of trouble?

yea...after this version expires...or if i dont like using this version of windows?there is no roll back?...so then ill need another cd of XP?...i got a cd with my laptop which says windows xp...im not sure if that has the installation cd of windows XP
