Xoftspy with Windows Defender, Spyblaster and Spybot search and Destroy.

Xoftspy is better than anyone of those listed :)

Ad-aware, spybot etc. are definately not the best choices in the anti spyware department (combined with other spyware software they can work pretty desent though).

I have had lots of problems getting ridd of trojans, toolbars and other spyware with almost any spyware program I've tried.

But then I found EWIDO and it kicks a**. Ewido AntiMalware has removed any trojan, any toolbar etc. I've encountered yet. It will find threats that AVG, Norton etc. (combined with e.g. Ad-Aware) do NOT find.

I really really recommend EWIDO. It's performance is outstanding.
Try Ewido's free online scanner/remover to see for yourself. If the online scanner can't remove a trojan, then just install the program for free and it will clean your system for sure!

It's 100% Free, but after 14 days the realtime guard will stop working in the free version but live updates and other functions will still work.

2nd choice would be Windows Defender (because it has real time protection for free) or Xoftspy, but with EWIDO I don't really need any of them.

AND best of all ... I only need 1 program besides AV and Firewall and it's not even from Microsoft. :D

Definitely Lavasoft Ad-Aware. I'd used Microsoft AntiSpyware (which, in fact, was quite okay) and switched to Microsoft Defender for a while but I didn't find them as useful as Lavasoft's app is.
And by the way, someone's mentioned NAV - I'd say it's not a good idea, unless you like it being so resource-consuming... and not necessarily succesful.

Was using SpySweeper but just changed to Ewido.

Imo, it is as good as SpySweeper but can also detect many trojans :)
