Apple decided to use Intel's new Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI) over the older Basic Input Output System (BIOS). As previously reported by BetaNews, Windows XP cannot run on the Macs due to its lack of EFI support, however Windows Vista was expected to change that.
While Vista would support EFI, Microsoft has only decided to do so for 64-bit CPUs. The Intel processors being used with the first-generation Intel Macs have all been 32-bit.

Update:
Btw, Windows XP can be run on Intel Mac with this Intel Mac XP Boot-loader now :D

I understand the objection of Apple but why Microsoft is not getting ready. After all it is another opportunity for Microsoft to make money.

Wel it seems Win xp is running on intel mac.
So i think Vista wel be soon aswel. The onley thing that makes windows NOT run in a intel mac is a small chip infront of the CPU that alows only an Unix based OS. And there are always people (like the ine in the link) That find a way around that. :P

It will be extremely easy to hack Vista to run on Intel Macs, considering how it has EFI support. Also, the next wave of Intel Macs may very well be 64-bit processors, and once they are, Vista will be easily run.

By the way, there is nothing at all "sad" about this news. Seriously, no Mac user is going to want the Microsoft Monstrosity on their computer.

mac users probly wont want windows on their machines, but for people who traditionally use windows, like me, will definately be more apt to get macs... i mean, with this new "boot camp", you can run windows xp natively on a mac. and if vista will work with it, the deal is set with me, for sure.

Guess then there will be "unofficial" apps similar to BootLoader. What Microsoft does not see that this is an other way to lose money and prestige.
