Probably in a Linux forum not a Windows forum?
I think there's tonnes of GTK based ones if I'm not mistaken?

Google Desktop and Opera also have widget feature. Add them in the list.

I am gonna have to say Konfabulator because i only have tryed that and sammurize but i will try avedesk now because i have heard some good remarks about it.
