Well, it's not like anyone's surprised. Adobe's been getting bigger and bigger and bigger for years. They've finally taken it over the top and snatched up their closest competitor.

Yeah, but what are they going to do, do you guys think? Completely wipe Macromedia's name and all their products? Keep the Macromedia name and continue the products? Ditch the name and keep the products?

Are they doing it purely for profit, or for the feeling of completely grinding the name Macromedia into dust?

I can't see the identity of macromedia being vanished.

I'm really with you on this. And like I said before, I really hope that the people that wrote the original programs and updates, will continue to do so, just under Adobe's contract.

this is shocking and unbelievable..... but on the other hand, their softwares will be more effective than now. either side has their own advantages and disadvantage, so by shaking hands together i hope this will be minimised to zero point and we are going to have gr8 featuristic softwares in near future :)

I just hope they keep Dreamweaver alive and kicking - I will really be sorry to see it go down the drain. It is streets ahead of GoLive.

In view of the upcoming Adobe CS2 release, I doubt if it is going to be possible to see a CS-MX style suite until CS3 comes out and that might be a long time away in the future. Not this year anyway :)

Competition spawns quality, of course.

That's one of the fundamental thoughts of capitalism.

trust me...most of the Macromedia stuff won't go other than...possibily firework to make room for Photoshop. However, the possibility of them all being intergrated together is pretty big....

In my opinion this is great as long as Adobe keeps Flash & Dreamweaver in there productts. This two products are major of the tools used in the internet. Dreamweaver helping out in the html and php, and flash making most of the animations, ads. Photosop creating the images with cool effects, this tree tools will be great combined, imagine do all sorts of things. As long as they do this people would really be happy. :)
