my laptop which is windows 7 ultimate 64bit is not shutting down since couple of days. i have to press and hold the power button to shut it down. 1st night when it was not shutting down i had to use power button to shut down and it was working back to normal from the following day, but again this problem started tonight. I have tried to clean and repair registry with some softwares but nothing helped me..please anyone have any solution?

I had this problem with my ThinkCentre on Windows 10 just yesterday. Best course of action would be to update BIOS and graphics drivers. That worked for me.

There is no more BIOS update and also I've tried to roll back nvidia driver...doesn't help but anyway I have sorted this problem out..there was a program which was not letting computer shut down i believe...I stopped it from running while windows starts and since then I got no issue.
