Windows 8 only allows adding certain types of tiles to the Start Screen, but with Start Screen Unlimited, you can bypass this limitations, and customize your Start Screen with just about anything.

Start Screen Unlimited allows Windows 8 users to add widgets, power controls or the entire Control Panel directly to the start screen. You can even display Windows Taskbar on the Start Screen and in modern apps. You can make your Start Screen show your favorite sports channel, add interactive menus, embed Google search, show digital or analog clock, or enhance the appearance of your Start Screen with anything you can imagine.

If only I had been using the Metro Screen. I hate this forced mobile interface on my desktop PC.

It looks like the live tiles are on the desktop. Had Microsoft done so, it would be freaking cool.
