Microsoft is going to rename its SkyDrive cloud storage service to OneDrive.

Microsoft has set up a OneDrive Preview web site with the title "OneDrive is coming soon", an introductory video of the same has been uploaded on YouTube, and a new OneDrive Blog has also been setup.

Microsoft took this decision after facing legal problems with the name SkyDrive when the satellite television provider Sky sued Microsoft for trademark infringement.

...

Okay, people are seriously clueless about trademark IP laws.

trademark infringements arise from products using similar names within the same industry/sector. All those products mentioned are not even in the same category. And that second last one doesn't even exist anymore.

No problem here, and, LOL @ techgeek for, well, being such geeks.

I like your sarcasm FalseAgent but I posted those photos as a joke. I knew that two companies from different industries can use the same name. Windows Vista is the perfect example. :D

There is actually a company that doesn't like Microsoft's new name.

They don't have a product named OneDrive. But their name is one.com, and they offer a similar service.

OneDrive makes sense. Microsoft has OneNote and Xbox One.
