Rainmeter is open source widget platform which displays customizable skins/widget, like memory, battery power, RSS feeds and weather forecasts, right on your desktop. Many skins are even functional: they can record your notes and to-do lists, launch your favorite applications, and control your media player - all in a clean, unobtrusive interface that you can rearrange and customize to your liking.

Rainmeter 3.0: Rainmeter is ditching the old GDI+ rendering system for more powerful Direct2D rendering method. The small text will now look more clear and graphics will be sharper.

Installation: You can safely install the new 3.0 release version right over your existing Rainmeter 2.5 installation, and nothing you have done will be lost or changed. There is never any need to uninstall any earlier version of Rainmeter to use the newest version.

Rainmeter has always been my favourite. Far better than Windows 7 gadgets.

Thanks, I'd been using 3.0 beta for the last 6 months.
