[Pictures: The Win8 start screen..err..Window?  and the Modern Mail App]

So the Guys over at WinMatrix was a bit upset that Stardock has this new app that can take all Metro/Modern apps and put them in Windows, resizeable, etc... For a $5 beta buy-in.  GEEZE, Minecraft does it, and damned well EVERYONE does it!

And I pointed out that in essense, it is an old VB6 trick.  And that lead up to "well damnit, Solo, make the freaking app!"

So after, oh, 30 minutes of looking up the proper p/invokes (I knew the old VB6 pi's would NOT work), this is what I have.  Not perfect, at all, as you can see, no window titlebars, but I am working on it.  It works by moving the mouse over a window (ANY WINDOW) and ressing a hotkey combo.. for now it is Ctrl+Shift+K (for Kapture), but that will change.  The Window's location is set in code, but once i get proper window border in code, it just wont matter at all.

Debating taking the current code, forking it, and having it dedicated to resizing the start screen to a window.  You know, like how Stardock's Start8 has the option too...

PS: Stardock recently spammed me with shit tons of spam, so i am mad at them.  I may do both as apps (the Start8 clone would be first, as how it is almost done, the windows does not need titlebars), and let them go for free.

See Stardock? this is what happens when you spam the shit out of an indie developer, he find a way to decrease sales of one of your apps by making a clone of it free...

Bastards.  Damned Spam. (i changed my email settings with this this morning, btw. no spam.)

Thanks guys.  I hope to have the Start Screen "shrinker" available today.  All it will do is resize the start screen to be a set desktop window.  then I will work more on getting the items working for the real app.

But seriously, keep up the great work Villain. (Y)

Thanks Jatin. Remember, "Indie" does not mean "Hipster".  Many get this confused :D

And yes, going to work the code today, I hope to get positive results today, will update the thread as I make new ground :D

Ok, so in about 1-2 days modernStart will be available  if not sooner.  I know I have all of the code that I need as existing files in other projects, just working out finding them, copying the files to the new project, working out dependent  files... Boring developer stuff that makes apps works that 90% of the users never realise how much work goes in to making an app.

Oh yeah, name and icon / logo suggestions, please, if you can for the start resizer.  Full credit will be given to whoever has the best suggests :D

Just give us an option to drag the resized windows and it will be perfect! Great job so far.

Thanks R@6271M3.

Working on the resizing issue, also, had the idea to see about actually "embedding" a metro app in to the desktop, like as your wallpaper.  Not getting much headway for it, but still, neat ideas.  Will be even better if I get one, or both of them, working well.
