Windows 8 Modern (Metro) apps use the full screen on your display regardless of how much of the screen they really need. As a result, that weather app, mail program or stock ticker is going to use the entirety of your computer display.

ModernMix is a new program from Stardock that lets you run Windows 8 "Modern" apps in a window on the desktop. You can also display and pin Modern apps on the taskbar and close Modern apps by clicking its close button.

You can test a beta version of ModernMix for 30 days. The price of the application is $5 which is quite nominal.

Stardock

Why wouldn't they just stop at making games? They make good dames for a good price, but their software is quite expensive and limited...

They started off making games i think... for the OS/2?  First game was Galatic Civilizations, i think.  I read an article on it because they programmers could not get all of the ships, etc.. space items to render in the "usual" (bitblt, etc) way, so the game had each ship, planet, etc... as a actual "borderless" window.  Yes, almost every item on screen for that OS/2 game a was a WINDOW.

So thats how a Game company got in to system customizing, because they could not do a traditional bitblt (old school screen drawing call), they made "dummmy" windows, set it's graphics, remove the titlebars, made the draggable even w/o the titlebar, and released it as a game.

Yup. Totally Legit :D

Anyway... Yeah, they should stick to games. They HAVE had a few great apps... but then others like me have made freewares that did the same, if not bettter, and hurt the bottom dollar.

This is why I am the Villain.  Dev's are in it for the money. Not me. I am in it to screw over the money makers.  If I cant make money, screw it, neither can other devs :D
