Microsoft started a petition to "tell Google to stop going through your email to sell ads", as a part of their 'Scroogled' campaign. The petition has attracted only 4,900 signatures after one week, even though it has been heavily advertised ever since the company made it public.

It is part of the EULA for GMail.  Read it "text adverts biased on the contents of emails"

Not that I give a damn, AdBlock Plus, baby.  What ads?
