Microsoft's next Xbox game console will require an always-on Internet connection according to EDGE's sources. Games will still be made available to purchase in physical form as 50GB-capacity Blu-ray discs. The internet connection will check if the games are new or used ones. Second hand games will be blocked from running.
Always-on connection isn't new for PC gamers and it had always been put to a lot of criticism. Assassin's Creed II is the perfect example, from which the always-on connection requirement was removed later on.

It will be interesting to see how the console games will react to this restriction applied by Microsoft.

All I can say is bye Microsoft if that rumor is true. That's just completely ridiculous and you know what Microsoft everyone will turn to Wii and PS3 for their entertainment you aren't the monopoly of the gaming industry.

GameStop has taken surveys of its customers. The results show that their customers would be less inclined to buy the next Xbox if they were restricted in their play of used games.
