Intel has decided to shut down production of its desktop motherboards!

Starting later this year, after the launch of its new Haswell chips, the company will stop developing new desktop motherboards. In fact, Intel plans to wind down the whole desktop motherboard business over the course of the next three years.

Rumor has it that Intel processors might be pre-soldered to OEM motherboards, which could make it difficult for hardware enthusiasts to piece together computers of their own. :(

Well that's alright, the last time I used an Intel motherboard was with my P3 processor. Gigabyte has won me over with their reliability since. There are many choices to select from.

The pre-soldering is quite a sad thing to hear, because that pretty much seals Intel's dominance, leaving AMD in the dust  :(
