WinMetro is designed to bring the Windows 8 Metro UI to Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP. It offers an easy solution for old version Windows users to try and enjoy the tile based Metro UI. By displaying useful information such as weather, calendar, news, stocks, and frequently used programs, it turns your desktop into an informative and productive work station.

It also offers the option to boot to Metro Start Screen directly.

Note: This program will just bring the Start Screen to Windows 7's desktop. If you want to completely transform Windows 7 to Windows 8 then it's better to use Windows 8 Transformation Pack by Windows X or 8Style Skin Pack by Hamed Danger.

I prefer Windows 8 UX Pack. It doesn't replace any system file and is easy to uninstall. :)

Update: Final version of WinMetro has been released.

The option to boot to Metro UI directly is really nice!

I decided to stick with Windows 7 for my PC because classic dekstop with taskbar, icons and start menu work better with mouse. I'll buy a tablet with Windows 8 Pro for Metro UI though.

;) There is also "SliderView", which is less intrusive : see video at http://www.chrisnsoft.com/
(a Lite version is coming soon...)
