If you're looking to buy a Windows RT tablet, don't expect to be able to protect it with third- party antivirus or other security software. In fact, it seems that Microsoft may block third-party antivirus vendors from developing security solutions for Windows RT.

Microsoft won't allow such software to be sold on its online store, which is the only way to load applications onto Windows RT devices. Most security observers assume Microsoft will develop its own security solution for Windows RT.

Honestly? Most likely for piece of mind. That's my guess anyways. Apple did an excellent job of pounding into people's mind that any, all and all future iterations of Windows are virus laden operating systems. It's going to take some serious effort on Microsoft's end to break out of that mindset. I simply cannot tell you how any times, if Windows is ever part of a conversation, how the masses just reiterate how diseased Windows is constantly. Granted, we aren't the masses, but eh.. the outside world isn't exactly an intelligent place.

edited for a few typos.. meh.

The legacy Windows programs can't be run on Windows RT. It means existing virus and malwares will also not work. :P
