A new beta for Start8 was released today, and this version introduces a "classic style" start menu option. It also adds a searchable start menu option, along with other features of Start8.

Start8 is better than Samsung's S Launcher because it not only gives you the start menu in Win8 but also comes with the start button.

This makes windows 8 usable for me by pushing metro to the background and the desktop to the front, great app!!!

I love how Stardock hated Win 8 and metro , and now they made one thing everybody wanted. In your face Microsoft !

I hope it won't be a 30-day trial-ware. There should be a feature-limited free version.

If people need something, they should get it for free, with paid additional features.

Just a heads up the Beta 3 update is out.  Several fixes and enhancements.

• Added Facebook link for promotion and 10% off coupon.
  
• Search responds more quickly when you press enter
  
• Modern app searches now show modern apps without having to type their entire name
  
• Improvements to the boot to desktop featureAdded website entry to search
  
• Added hibertnate as an option to the shutdown menu
  
• Added back the option for fullscreen Modern start menu
  
• Extended control panel search to show custom entries
  
• Fixed issue with custom start button images being resized down
  
• Fixed search using lots of cpu/memory if the Windows search service was disabled
  
• Fixed pinned items on the taskbar stopping jump lists from working on pinned start menu items
  
• Fix for the start button now always loading the graphic on bootup when you used the flag option
  
• Fix for issues with some of the right hand links not showing / hiding based on the config settings
  
• Fix to move the user picture when taskbar is at the top of the screen to avoid overlap
  
• Fix to enlarge start menu if additional right hand options are enabled
