HotShut is a very useful app for Windows 8 users which will allow the users to Shutdown, Restart, Log Off, Lock and Hibernate the PC from the system notification area. In Windows 8, using these options is a bit complicated process. This application will allow the users to easily shutdown, restart etc. If you have Windows 7, you can test it. It doesn't have UI. When run, it sits in tray.

Good job Paras but SysTray apps consume memory. Isn't it possible to make a quick launch app in which we get all these options just by pinning the app to the taskbar?

I prefer to use the classic shortcuts.
add move those shortcuts to system32 folder, then name it to your desired command like this one;

Create new shortcut on desktop; add this command;
shutdown.exe -r -t 00
and name it restart, a shortcut will be added on your desktop with tne name restart
now I move them to %windir%\system32 folder...

Now this is where the fun begins :D
Press Windows Key + R to open up the RUN dialogue box, then type restart and press enter..

your windows 8 will restart :D

No 3rd party apps needed just the classic common sense can make windows 8 computing more quickier.
Maybe you can add your ways too, so we all can enjoy its awesomeness.

A white icon would fit in better!

LOL, Paras, I made such app for myself while working on Skip Metro Suite.
It has jump list like pcHuntqwerty wished and uses pinned taskbar icon instead of tray icon. I even use the same icon for it!!
I will add link to your app if i decide to release my tool.
But now I have no plans for that.

@Phenom II I run these types of apps at startup. I already have 4 apps in my startup folder which slow down booting time.

hb860 Why no plans for releasing? Release it with a [WIP] tag if it's unfinished. :D
