Like Windows 8?
Hate the overly large title size and borders?

included in this zip is two .reg files. One to shrink the desktop window's border and titlebar, the other is the default Windows 8 settings that you can use to restore to original settings.

once you apply, you need to atleast log off, then log back in. the new settings will take affect then.

I WAS going to write an app for this.... But I didnt want to, to busy with mstex, If you DO write an app that does this, baised off of my .reg file, please give proper credit where credit is due.

Also, this should work on all Windows, XP and higher. However, if you apply these Windows 8 settings on a non-Windows 8 machine, and you go to apply the "original" settings, your going to have the Original Windows 8 settings, not the original XP/Vista/7 settings. just a warning.

Having said that, I hope that hb860 feels free to make this in to a truly great app using these settings.

Metro, modern, or whatever they call it doesn't mash well with Desktop at all. It just looks terrible.

I'm sure theme designers could have beat Microsoft's ass in their own game at this.

Theme designers have been beating Microsoft's ass for a while now

I mean, even the default Windows 7 theme has those non-aliased jaggy rounded edges everywhere, it's so ugly, I don't know how they let that pass. Ah well.

Windows 8 finally has some proper aliasing, but MS has only worked it into the Metro environment, the desktop is still as ugly as ever... <_<

The heck you talking about? I remember some truly killer XP themes that whooped MS's butts... Lol, you need to go back further..

That is exactly what I meant by "theme designers have been beating Microsoft's ass for a while now" and that "the desktop (with the default theme) is still as ugly as ever".

Actually, to think of it, the Windows XP Luna theme had the jagged rounded edges too. Plus, XP's jagged mouse cursor was really ugly.

ok i misunderstood. I agree 100%. MS should outsource theme development to non-MS employees.
