Windows 8 ships with built-in games such as Minesweeper, Solitaire, and Mahjong. But this time around, those games reportedly offer Xbox Achievements as part of a label called "Xbox Windows," according to listings for the games on Xbox 360 Achievements.Xbox360Achievements.org reports that the three games will also come with a way for people who have an Xbox Live account to add to their current Gamerscore. For example, the website claims that Windows 8 gamers will gain 10 points on their Gamerscore just by flipping over their first card
- Mahjong comes with 25 Gamerscore in three Achievements
- Solitaire Collection's three Achievements are worth 40 Gamerscore
- Minesweeper spreads 50 Gamerscore across four Achievements
The "Xbox Windows" branding seems to cover games from the Windows Store, which will also offer titles that were previously released on Xbox Live Arcade, like Ms. Splosion Man and Rocket Riot. "Xbox Windows" does not appear to replace the existing Games for Windows Live label. I hope it will happen before the official Windows 8 launch.
Windows 8 will be fully integrated with Xbox Live and Microsoft's new SmartGlass system.
