From Valve's Linux blog: "That the Linux version runs faster than the Windows version (270.6) seems a little counter-intuitive, given the greater amount of time we have spent on the Windows version. However, it does speak to the underlying efficiency of the kernel and OpenGL."

For those who don't know - Valve announced last month that the company is going to support Linux because Windows 8 is a 'catastrophe' and bring the Source engine games like Portal 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 to the Linux platform.

I like Windows 8, but if games run better on Linux, I wouldn't even mind dualbooting between Linux and Windows just to play my games better. True story.
