Windows 8 RTM Announced!

Microsoft has announced that Windows 8 RTM build has been released to its hardware manufacturing partners, in advance of the developer release on August 15, and ahead of general consumer availability on October 26. The RTM build is the version that OEMs place on machines that ship pre-loaded with Windows.

The final build is 9200.16384.win8_rtm.120725-1247 which MSDN and TechNet customers will be able to download it from August 15th.

Important dates:

August 15th: Developers will be able to download the final version of Windows 8 via their MSDN subscriptions.
August 15th: IT professionals testing Windows 8 in organizations will be able to access the final version of Windows 8 through their TechNet subscriptions.
August 16th: Customers with existing Microsoft Software Assurance for Windows will be able to download Windows 8 Enterprise edition through the Volume License Service Center (VLSC), allowing them to test, pilot and begin adopting Windows 8 Enterprise within their organization.
August 16th: Microsoft Partner Network members will have access to Windows 8.
August 20th: Microsoft Action Pack Providers (MAPS) receive access to Windows 8.
September 1st: Volume License customers without Software Assurance will be able to purchase Windows 8 through Microsoft Volume License Resellers.

holy damn, that screenshot looks good.

can't wait to give this a spin, although I still doubt that I would upgrade.

Not really. The only thing I need is IE10 for work and that's coming to Windows 7. I like the idea and concept, but having a hybrid OS isn't what I'm looking for at the moment.

I can navigate just fine right now on 7 and have all the things I need to get work done.
