Some Office 2013 Preview users may be put off by the animations that appear across each of the applications. The worst, possibly, is a typing animation effect in Microsoft Word that can be distracting to those who spend a lot of time in this application. Fortunately, you can disable animations in Office 2013.

You can do so by navigating to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Graphics and creating a DWORD value named DisableAnimations. Set its data to 1 and you're set.

Or download this handy .reg file by Rafael Rivera

I personally like the animations, but I noticed if you type really fast (not me), sometimes the text lags a bit.

But this is definitely a regedit that will be useful to some people.

Very nice!!!!! Now all we need is someone to figure out how to change the background in word 2013 preview. Its so white, i can barely see anything without my eyes hurting and this is the general public opinion about word 2012. In regards to Excel 2013, All of my fellow CPAs at my firm love it. Outlook looks great also. The only one that needs some work is Word 2013.

Always nice with a reg-tweak... but there is a setting for this within the program.

I just wanted to add that my HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common did not have the "Graphics" key. But it worked just fine to add that key, then add the DWORD value. Thanks pcHuntqwerty for discovering this tip.

In my opinion the animations are neat, but they are a novelty item that get's old.
