Office 2013 suite will only work on Windows 7 and Windows 8 PCs. has decided to drop support for its Windows XP and Windows Vista customers. Office 2010, released in June 2010, included support for both Windows XP and Windows Vista, but the latest version — expected to be released in early 2013 — will force users to upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows 8 to reep the benefits.

Operating System requirement of Office 2013:

I understand Vista sucks, but I'm pretty sure if Office 213 can run on Windows 7, it can run on Vista. I don't know too much about this kind of stuff, but isn't Windows Vista and 7 basically the same infrastructure. The whole problem with Vista was that it was really different than XP in some ways (different kernel or something I'm not sure), but I'm certain Windows Vista and 7 are the same. Plus, Windows 7 has lower requirements than Vista, so from my knowledge, Windows Vista should easily be supported, but Microsoft is just trying to kill Vista, which is really good I guess.

really glad that there is no XP support! My school's library has refused to upgrade because Office 2010 still works flawlessly on XP!

Well, my school uses Office 2003 and Windows XP everywhere. And there're no PCs in the library. Just like in every bulgarian school.

Wow, that sucks, because Office 2003 doesn't support the new .docx and .pptx formats used from Office 2007 onwards, unless they have the compatibility pack installed. Even with the compatibility pack installed, it isn't perfect.
