Microsoft has announced that PCs running Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 are eligible for a downloadable upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $39.99 in 131 global markets and in 37 languages. The $39.99 upgrade will be available through Windows.com only, and the boxed DVD-based upgrade will be available for $69.99 through January 31, 2013.
