I just found out that Windows 8 Release Preview will expire on 15 Jan 2013. I'm installing it on my main PC now and will use it for everyday computing.

How many WM members are using it as their main OS?

I won't use it as my main OS until the Office 15 beta is released. I can't live without Office :D

Yup. Going balls deep to really give it a run. I have it installed on all three of my machines.

It's been a long tradition of mine to always use the RC now Release Preview builds as my main os until the RTM launches. No different now! Especially since it's so stable, and much better than previous builds :)

That's great, because Windows 8 works without touch too!

My computer runs both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 and it will never see Windows 8. My next computer will be an iMac.

Win8 RP works pretty good if use a tweak like start8 and learn where to click the mouse/use mouse gestures so the metro screen doesn't get in the way of using a desktop & mouse only. The mouse gestures was made a better than in CP and that was a good improvement. I also like how ie 10 browsing feels really fast even on a 3 year old laptop, and since i mainly use my computer for web browsing and reading, I think I'll stick with windows 8 for now.

I also just loved the general style of content-centric integration and ease of content/app discovery in the new windows oses ever since i used a windows phone os. It's seems like a relief from having to have to think about exactly what i want and having to scour and click around on websites just to get general information, even when i have almost mastered doing that over the years.

Why would I upgrade to W8? W8 is just W7 with completely useless, non-productive UI

I used to think that too, but then I realized how useless hating on win 8 is after getting more used to it

I have to stay up-to-date because someone from our deparment @work have to know what is latest Microsoft Software :)
It will be on our clients PCs. They definitelly will buy new PCS with OEM Win8.
So, I will use it. I already use it as my main OS.

Why would I upgrade to W95? W95 is just W3.1 with a completely useless, non-productive UI.

Except that's not true at all. The Windows 95 UI was vastly superior over the cumbersome Windows 3 UI.

To me, the same cannot be said about the Windows 8 UI vs the Windows 7 UI.

How about Vista and 7? Or XP and Vista? Win 8 may look very much like 7 but it's alot faster. The desktop itself did get alot of improvements in my opinion. Metro on the other hand doesn't quite fit in yet. I hope they change something till they release it.
