Windows 8 Release Preview will include three new Metro apps according to winunleaked. Paul Thurrott also confirmed the existence of the new apps. The three new Metro-style apps that Microsoft is providing in this release include News, Sports, and Travel. They look and work exactly like the Finance app, providing what are essentially beautiful frontends to RSS feeds from trusted sources.

I have only 1 question.
Who will care about metro apps on classic Desktop?

If you only care about the classic desktop, you frankly shouldn't be upgrading to Windows 8.

And why is that? Windows 8 is more than Metro slapped on top of Windows 7.  I've been using it now since the Dev Preview, and the enhanced boot speed alone is enough for me to want to continue using it and not go back to 7.  99% of the time, I don't even use the start screen (I use True Launch Bar to replace what little I used the start menu in 7 for).

I use some of the Metro apps. like MSNBC, the music lyrics one and Photobucket and Weather. More people will start using metro when there are more apps. Right now it's pretty blah but I have noticed some new stuff on there like FlipToast which has potential
