But here is an article link, please, after reading it (or atleast until your eyes glaze over and you say "tl;dr!!!") Come back and discuss or debate MS's decisions. I dont expect any "MS did EVERYTHING RIGHT!!!" comments, because honestly, no one OS is the perfect OS. There is always something that needs to be, or should be changed. Anyway, please come back and discuss.

EDIT Update, please see this topic as how Microsoft Officially announces "Aero is Dropped"

The problem is, of course, people aren't used to seeing 2 worlds on a tablet (or on their desktop).
But this looks so damn good

EDIT: something interesting here
We applied the principles of “clean and crisp” when updating window and taskbar chrome. Gone are the glass and reflections. We squared off the edges of windows and the taskbar. We removed all the glows and gradients found on buttons within the chrome. We made the appearance of windows crisper by removing unnecessary shadows and transparency.
Looks like they're killing Aero. Can't say it wasn't unexpected.

Why is the Taskbar still Aero, but the borders are not? Thats just shitty. The most important part, in my opinion, being the fact that they revealed their plans on the desktop:
And if i want a "flat" window style, i will use the "classic" mode and change all of the 3d colors and such to one flat, uniform color.
On the other hand, it has always been know that if you want to speed up windows (WAAY back from the Windows 3.1 days) then you do this.
1 > no wallpaper, eats up refresh cycles drawing it
2 > flat colors. less resources to be used.
And now we add in (from Windows Vista)
3 > disable Aero, use Classic for more speed (amazingly enough, it is true... if your on a lower-end machine, you can notice the difference)
4 > disable desktop icons (less to draw, less resources = faster system)
So yeah, all of these are proven, but it distract and takes away to much from the average users. People Want desktop icons (not me though, i hate them), they want wallpapers (i think we all agree on that one), a majority of us like to use Aero (look at the sheer number of Aero .msstyles files + Windowblinds + borderskin) and colors, we like colors (although i do like "flat" colors, looks minimal to me
So yeah, MS is removing things that we are used to to FORCE Metro on us. Seems like to me when MS went looking for people to ask "how should windows look like" they asked the older generation that complains "fonts are to small" and "i cant see those tiny pictures on the screen that i am supposed to click on".
I propose that we call Window 8 "Windows Geriatric Edition"... because it had to be made for those with bad eyesight in mind.

We have moved beyond Aero Glass—flattening surfaces, removing reflections, and scaling back distracting gradients.
While it might sound really cool if you say it that way, the true is that you actually go with giant steps backward, in the history, way before desktop had any colors - Windows 3.1 times. Just compare:
Windows 3.1

Windows 8

I know, it's just the same ( I exclude the blue background in the second picture ). Microsoft, you're doing evolution wrong.

Yeah, no. They aren't the same. There are literally no UI elements in the two images that are noticeably similar, besides the fact that the Program Manager in the 3.1 pic has a white border.
Feel free to hate on the new desktop all you want (I think it looks a little plain at the moment), but at least make sense doing it.

Get Ready for THE TROLL![]()
....... just my opinion
Haha.. Damn funny..
Actually I like windows 7 very much, but I really don't like anything about windows 8, The start screen is good in look, but believe its not that good was when it comes to fast use.. it get very much confusing..
Also I am not sure about about dropping area style but I hate ribbon UI in explorer, but looks very good in MS office, but not in explorer..
In short till now i am not that excited about windows 8 as i was excited about windows 7 .. I only like the font styles and use of them in windows 8... Other then that it's looks like they are using MS paint to create them and other thing...

But everything in their plan seems good until they have implemented.
Microsoft got it all wrong, personally. It would be much better than the way it looks.
Minimalistic is good but why wiping all connections with .NET, Aero, and all good stuffs in Windows7?
