Last year, Mozilla announced a project called Boot2Gecko that is essentially a mobile operating system built with existing web development tools. Now we have our first look at the Gaia UI that Boot2Gecko will use, and Mozilla has promised more announcements to come at Mobile World Congress later this month.

Why does it have the OS X UI on top? Well, the UI of the OS is pretty ugly for now..

Android and WebOS both are open source. I hope Mozilla OS will come up with some serious competition.

Look at the title, "Nightly", in addition to the lack of a release date. Hence, it's obviously still in very early development stages. What are you expecting? 100% final stage polished product?

Their developing an Operating system, not re-skinning an established product.

Unbelievable how ignorant people can be to the development process of a product, love to see any troll try and show the pro's how it's done.

Shoot some constructive comments instead of stupidity. Better yet, innovate the lack of innovation you feel you so strongly need to crack on.

Not mad at all. Just pointing something out.

Yeah I know, it's a big contributor to why we get the same repackage garbage every time. One company will have an idea (iPhone for example), everyone copies the hell out of it.

Where if they opened up the channel a bit and let potential/existing/future users comment, maybe even use and give feedback, ideas etc., we'd have much more innovative technologies. Look at it as a washed down year long CES or developers event.

When I see threads like this with people doing the typical try-hard "I'm-so-smart-I-can-do-it-better" or "I'm-so-cool-I-can-be-a-smart-ass-to-feel-smart" nonsense I just face palm.
