BlueStacks App Player, the Windows application capable of running Android apps has launched for Windows XP. The alpha version that launched in October only ran on Windows 7, but the company says nearly 20 percent of Android users are also Windows XP users, so this new version is for them.

The company tied up with AMD in September and launched AMD AppZone for Windows users. In December BlueStacks announced that it will soon release the App Player for Window RT users.

So far, 500,000 people have downloaded BlueStacks App Player for running Android apps on Windows devices.

Download: BlueStacks App Player for Windows XP.

Update (Jan 26, 2013): You can now have full-fledged Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich running on your Windows desktop with WindowsAndroid, unlike BlueStacks which brings individual apps.

It's strange to see that some companies are still supporting XP.

It's currently in the alpha stage of development, so there's no telling which way they may go as far as OS compatibility. From the looks of it, they are going with creating a Mac OS version, but that's all that seems viable. Perhaps later on there will be versions for Linux, Windows Vista, Windows XP, etc.
