Windows 8 requires a 1024 x 768 minimum resolution for Metro style apps, and as long as your screen is at least 1366px wide, you can use snap to show two apps at once.

According to statistics provided by Microsoft, 1366 x 768 is the most common resolution for Windows 7 computers, so it's no wonder that the company decided to optimize Windows 8 Metro app snap usage for these characteristics. Screen resolutions of 1280 x 800 are the most prevalent after 1366 x 768, followed by 1600 x 900, 1920 x 1080 and the classic 1280 x 1024.

At 1366x768, Start screen shows 24 custom shortcuts on the first screen.

You can still install Windows Developer Preview or Windows 8 on a PC with resolution lower than 1024 x 768 and you can still see it but you can't access it. Not anymore....

The tweak: Go to Regedit and find for Display1_DownScalingSupported. In the right side pane, replace it's DWORD value from 0 to 1. Restart your explorer and there you go.

It's that size because thats the size the a VGA connected LED/LCD TV has it's resolution set at. (Or mine does anyway..)
The Monitor is at 1600x900, it's default, lower resolution.

Surf the web on the Monitor, play videos on the TV, at the same time. Or, write code on the Monitor, watch TV by Windows Media Center on the TV.

My tv supports 1366x768 max by VGA.

Off-topic: Btw, you and me have our monitors and tvs positioned the same, i have my TV to the right of my monitor. :P kewl. Sometimes i use the TV to play movies or series on there. Euhm, but that because my PS3 died for a week ago or two.. i have sent it back to get a new one. =/

That is because my desk can't support larger monitors. I don't want to get a new desk just for a bigger Monitor. :D

Thats pretty much what the TV is for , movies going while i am going something else on the monitor. However, any time I play Minecraft, the game is on the TV. Just looks better to me.

Glad that great minds think alike!

that will definitely look stupid for my setup. My Desk has a platform above the Monitor for my 5.1 Speakers. :D

I was even thinking of installing Windows 8 on my Motorola DEFY, which has only 854 x 480 pixels screen. :D
