The Samsung Slate PC Series 7 a Windows 7 based 11.6-incher, designed to be equally at home docked on your desk as it is on your lap.



According to pocket-lint, It packs quite a punch too - an Intel Core i5 chip is on board (there are Core i3 and a Pentium versions too), backed up with 4GB of RAM. Storage is 32 or 64GB of the SSD variety and connectivity is pretty good with Wi-Fi, WiMAX and HSPA+, as well as USB, microSD and HDMI.

Cameras are 3-megapixel on the back, 2-megapixel up front, and there's a 170-degree viewing angle on the 16:9 HD display.

The dock adds full sized ports for USB and HDMI as well, plus Gigabit Ethernet. The keyboard hooks up using Bluetooth. Battery life is given as 7 hours, which is pretty good for a Windows tab. It weighs in at 0.86kg and is around 12.7mm thick.

technically speaking, all tablet PC's should be upgradable to Windows 8...as long as they're able to boot from USB

Also, it's to small. No way this (as a desktop PC) can beat my 37 incher.

^ It's not made to "beat" it. It's made to be different. Try taking your desktop with you or using the screen as an input.

No offence, but who likes AMD over INTEL when it comes to processors?

I hope this has three things better than the Asus:
1. better battery life!!!! Asus was like 2 hours, even 3-4 would be better.
2. thinner and lighter!
3. cheaper! like under 800 for top model

Make AMD Fusion an exception.

The HP windows slate also came with a Wacom digitizer, but it didn't have any palm rejection techniques of any sort.

EDIT: and as a side-note, the Wacom digitizer was also one of the reasons on why that HP windows slate was so expensive.

Yup. I have an E-350 in my netbook. It is your typical netbook dual core processor, slow. The new A8 mobile processors simply cannot beat Intel.

The Intel mobile quad cores have the same 45 W TDP as the AMD fusion and they are faster. AMD has always been poor when it came to power management in laptops.

Now, I like AMD. I really do. But they simply haven't figured out how to make a low power consumption processor that can compete with Intel. Face it, people don't buy AMD because they are powerful, they buy them because they're cheap.

Samsung has confirmed, it has been made with Windows 8 in mind.

It's good that they've got 8 in mind because 7 is a total dog on a slate/tablet/whatever.
I bought one at the start of the year and found that I had to plug in a bluetooth mouse just to do anything useful.
That said, Samsung do make excellent products and the added UI layer looks promising along with the digitizer.
