"Now you can find apps and games, rent movies and buy books in Android Market on your phone."

Android Market now has tiles and looks very similar to Metro UI of Window Phone 7 to me. :D

I looks better on phone than it does in video. It's actually a decent attempt, though I liked how the previous iteration looked more unified this one is much more functional. I doubt it'll be approachable from a novice user though.

My one qualm, is that since it's built with the Nexus S for testing, my old Nexus One brother, the HTC Incredible staggers a little bit when theres image heavy pages.

Waiting for this to get rolled out to my phone. I always thought their market design was a bit too dated looking previously

MetroUI is best for mobile application. It requires less bandwidth than other sophisticated graphic.

And people say Microsoft never innovates.

Microsoft innovates but they don't make a big deal out of it unlike other companies. Microsoft's products are normal commodity products used by normal people, that is why. Basically, much of Microsoft's innovation is taken for granted by the industry. Which is sad.

EDIT: I just watched the video. So much fail, I don't even know where to start.

Google should be ashamed of themselves, really. The swiping, the tiles with info on them, the non-tabbed top navigation bar, the buttons with solid bold colors, text labels in BLOCKED format...ugh...what a rip-off WP7. I don't understand how Google was able to do such a fantastic job in redesigning their Search Engine, Gmail, Blogger, and Youtube, but screw up so badly for Android.

Oh, and I have to say, here's the best part: that video hilariously looks like an Apple iPhone commerial with the white background and 3d-rendered human hands. LOL.

Topping the list, even in that video, the android market app seems to be lagging, with thumbnails being loaded halfway only as you swipe from screen to screen...

Not sure if you have an android phone or used it on a phone yet but it is a LOT nicer to use in reality. A lot of other android users will probably agree that coming from the old style market, this is so much nicer and friendlier to use. In my case it's also a million times zippier as well.

Except that the first implementation of the "side scrolling views" was not made by Google, it was made by an open source developer.

That's what's great about Android. It's called viewflow btw.

The first app that used this "WP7" like horizontal screen switcher with the News and Weather app on Android 2.1
