Pokki is free Windows program that can place your Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, and other web service accounts right into your Windows 7 taskbar, aka superbar! It can also add some useful widgets like RSS Headlines, weather app, ebay notifications etc.

You can also build your own Pokkis with HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript.

Give Pokki a try by downloading any of the featured Pokkies from their homepage.

Here is a screenshot of some of the featured Pokkies:

Google+ Pokki want!

Edit: Just saw that a Google+ Pokki isn't possible because there's no G+ API right now. :( Oh well.

Aww no hotmail? IE9's feature of putting the mail on the taskbar doesn't really work the way i'd like it to, I don't want to have ie9 open at all times to see the notifications, might as well just leave my inbox open in the browser anyway lol. How about making the icons customizeable and leaving the notification number seperate of the icon too? that'd be great! Is there such a feature?

So I tired Pokki... and while i like it, i am upset with it.
The developers make use of a "dirty trick". Pokki is designed so that it is always the first app right behind the start button. Proof? Ok, see the attached picture.
This is done by programatically extending the area that the start buttons sits in, enlarging it to the size of the start button + whatever Pokki apps you may have installed. You can see this by seeing the graphics discoloration between the pokki/start button area, and my next in line, real, pinned taskbar icon.

As how many people, when seeing screen shots, associate that the icons closest to the Start button is, indeed, an important, and therefore, must have app... This is what gets to me. You cant change it's location. Drag and drop re-arranging does not work. As a secondary note, it's a compiled javascript app. While not areal language, it's better than a "webapp", although, really, thats all that it is. some HTML/5 and javascript inset into a compiled exe.

Let me make one thing real. Webapps are not real apps. If it cant be nativly compiled, then your wasting your time. But thats just my line of thought as a serious, freelance developer.

Anyway, Pokki needs to add in some code that lets it be dragged and dropped away from the start button. It is useful, Oh My Yes. Does it need more work? OMG Yes.

If they make a Windows Live Mail version, I'll download that. But I don't use Gmail, prefer Facebook in the web version and rarely use Twitter. So I have nothing to use it for as of right now :)

^ Those are IE9 pinned websites, but Pokki is different. You don't have to use your browser with Pokkies. :D

Totally useful service. I've been surfing Twitter via Tweetdeck for months

and this might be the right time to run FB on this Pokki.

What's the difference? Each opens a window on your desktop, and each give notifications of activity.

Faster and smoother. Has notifications in the icons and a very good gmail account switcher built in.
