Angiulo revealed that systems with UEFI and SSDs could wrap up a cold boot in six or seven seconds at most.
UEFI, designed as the replacement for BIOS, is a software interface that sits between an operating system and the platform's firmware. Just as BIOS, UEFI deals with pre-loading all drivers and getting the hardware ready for the operating system to boot.

MS "6 seconds boot time! (but only if you have the absolute latest and greatest hardware)"
Everyone else wants to know about real-world boot time, for the billions that wont have that technology...
Well said. Not everyone can afford an SSD let alone take the risk of data loss and degradation.

I'm inclined to agree. Add on to that all the OEM crapware that is sure to drag down performance to sub par levels too.

Crapware is mostly trivial to remove.
I can tolerate desktop icons i'll just delete them but if I have to uninstall programs that are not value added utilities for the system but trials I will simply not buy from you again.

We are reaching the peak on what we can do with disk based HDD's but if it makes booting on a SSD faster it will surely offer some faster booting benefits to HDD's.

My HP Elitebook 6930p BIOS loads in 2 seconds. After reading this thread I googled and found out that my laptop already has UEFI. I really need an SSD now!
You booted up in really 2 seconds?
Are you kidding?
He must be joking. Or he havent realized that his computer has hibernation enabled so when it has shut down, you are in Windows before you know it when you power it on.

Sorry. Sometimes there is some confusions. Ah well.. i think my HP ProBook 4525s also has this kind of bios, because i can use a mouse inside the bios and all.. so yeah my bios boots very fast too.. it like get to the OS boot almost instantly too.Yeah, I was talking abt the BIOS, not the whole OS.
