Bins is a a simple Windows 7 application made to combine taskbar icons into groups, no larger than the regular taskbar icon in Windows 7. The application is from the author of ObjectDock and Fences.

Features:

  • Group your taskbar icons
Combine related programs on your Windows 7 taskbar into “Bins”.
Reduce clutter, and get at your programs quickly.
  • Super easy
Create a Bin by dragging one taskbar icon on top of another, and dropping into the popup that appears. Ungroup shortcuts by dragging the icon back to the taskbar. No need to open a settings screen; Bins is simple and intuitive.
  • Instantly accessible
Once combined into a Bin, your shortcuts will appear instantly when you mouse over the group’s icon, for launching or for window-management. Move your mouse away and your Bin will tuck back into the taskbar.
  • Pin files and folders to your taskbar
Want a favorite folder or document more easily on hand? Bins allows you to pin any file or folder to your taskbar natively.

Options:

Installation goes smooth and no system restart is required; it is ready to start organizing your desktop icon right away. The procedure is as simple as dragging and dropping an icon on another. They will instantly combine and the contents of the group will be available when passing with the mouse over, without crippling the default aero preview in Windows 7. Although the Bins taskbar icon is limited to showing only four elements, it can fit in a lot more.

Bins integrates beautifully in Windows 7 and does not affect the preview functionality of the operating system. It will actually offer two preview types, one encompassing all the currently running tasks in the group as well as individual preview for each of the launched programs.

Wow! I like that! Will it work if you don't have the default Windows7 theme on your desktop? As I theme my desktop. (UXtheme patch)

Bins isn't compatible with jumplist currently. I'll wait for an update.

Oo that's a killer - looks very promising though - I've always wanted to group all browsers as 1 item, all MS Office applications as 1 item.

Thanks for the post! Just d/l'd it today and i am loving it! Having all 4 development environs in one icon is cool... I do miss the jup lists, but I can manage without it until they fix it. I WILL be buying this app!

It crashed Explorer for me once, and when I put Chrome with Firefox it works but the Chrome icon re-appears at the end of the taskbar and clicking it gives an error asking me if I want to remove it.

The same happened when I put Excel with Word.

Any idea?

Am I missing something? I can't seem to get the four icon layout you have there and i've seen others achieve even with a vertical taskbar.

Anyone care to help?

Thanks
