I just installed it, and well... it appears to be faster than before. I mean opening Computer and other Folders, not sure about gaming, I have a 5.0 Windows Experience Index Rating Score on my Laptop, so most games work smooth with or without the update (depends on the game settings of course), however the overall desktop performance does really seem to work faster, on the other hand... it could be my imagination.

NOW I know where my speed increase came from. I knew something was up with my laptop, it just felt a little snappier. I think this update is it!

the best updates are always performance increase updates! Now make windows 8 faster than windows 7 and i'll buy it!

It checks if you have a genuine Windows anyway, besides it wants the Windows Update service to be enabled. So what's the point? I installed it on my retail and on my pirated version if you must know.

For some reason the Genuine Authenicator would not run on Chrome (the alternative version that is, DUH) so i had to actually run IE to get the download, but not before IE9 crashed three times (some website error). I guess that shows that MS's website is not fully compatable with IE9.

Anyway, i got it installed and such. Cant say i see a performance upgrade, but it is nice having it, just in case.

I have yet to IE9 crash on me. Try disabling addons if you have any.
