firstly, my primary use for my pc is multimedia. I play a fair amount of games that require quite a lot of system resources(like elder scrolls iv with maxed settings and online games that need insane fps), music and some videos. My pc spec is a intel core2duo 2.8 with 4gig ram, though i am using xp so only 3gig is usable and a geforce gt 220 graphics card.
now according to someones post, windows blinds uses 5-10% of physical memory. so if it uses 5% of my 3gig ram, thats 600mb ram? that cant be right, but anyways. will using windows blinds with a fast pc like mine have a noticeable effect at startup and while running games or multitasking?
also, i have heard that the actual problem with windows blinds isnt that it might slow your pc down a little or a fair bit, but that it installs and modifies some registry files, which in turn causes windows errors after a while and that is the actual thing that slows your pc down at startup especially?

@RickSOLET: Can you post your info saying that WB causes no slowdown please? (I hate to sound mean or eveil here, but i dont trust what StarDocks says... I think they lie of the recommended specs just to get more users. But this is also biased on when i was on my old pc... so take what i say with a grain of salt, ok?)

You won't notice WB at all, it really does not slow things down. And you did a mistake with your calculation => 5% of 3Gb is not 600Mb but a mere 150mb

Yeah well still, 150MB per one app is still a lot of RAM.

Memory usage of a program isn't dictated by a percentage, but rather based off of how much it simply needs. The percentage of memory used is obviously going to be dependent on how much memory you have installed. If a program uses 100 mb of 1 gb of RAM, it uses about 10% of the memory. But if I have 2 GB of RAM, it doesn't use 200 mb of RAM, but rather still 100 mb and only 5% of the memory.
The percentage given in the OP is irrelevant without knowing what that number is based off of.

I just don't like it. It uses memory to modify the Windows 7 themes. Why not just use visual styles so there's absolutely no slowdown at all. For XP, it'll be especially slow because it's mimicking the Aero/blur borders and stuff whereas in Windows Vista and 7, it's implemented in the operating system. so there will be less of a slow down.
It uses memory because its safer and less likely to corrupt the system god forbid something go wrong.
