Not many people want to acknowledge it but I will. Today is Vista's 4th birthday. Yes, that OS that no one wanted to use, and quickly became a forbidden word around Redmond. 4 years ago today, this little OS went to RTM.

I'm not to afraid to admit that I enjoyed using Vista, and still do! My Vista system has been the most stable and secure system I have ever used. After upgrading I noticed the difference between XP and Vista was like night and day. Gone were the random BSODs, the constant re-installs due to Windows Rot, and gone was the constant living in fear of malware. Yes, my friends, since Vista, I have gotten rid of those bulky AV suites, and have not regretted it. 4 years later, this Vista system is still operating without having to be re-installed once!

Vista might not be look upon by many in a good light, but despite this, will be remembered by me as being the first OS I have used that I truly enjoyed using.

Windows Vista, HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY!!!!! :fun: :fun: :fun: :fun: :fun:

Idk why people hate vista so much. It was an improvement from xp
it may not have been a very good improvement on stability or speed, but
they gave us a beautiful ui redesigned and the best feature, AERO.

Apple beat it into oblivion. Sad thing is, people bought into their hate campaign.

As per normal, simply blame Apple.

It's not so much Apple's fault, but more to the hardware support (actually the lack thereof) at launch. I happened to buy a laptop with Windows Vista preinstalled not more than a few weeks after launch, so I was covered as far as drivers. But for people that upgraded, I remember there being a lot of problems.
While this was fixed soon enough, the word had spread far enough that most people hated it.

I believe it was Apple's smear campaign that turned a rough launch into the shit fest it became. Yes, there were a few problems on Microsoft's end and a few on the OEM's end, but they were quickly resolved. Apple, however, continued with the Vista hate.

Vista isn't too bad. I see Vista like a newborn with medical complications it took a little while to get things sorted out a couple surgeries but in the end things turned out okay.

I would go out and buy Win7 but I simply can't budget for it right now and I can't bring myself to pirating it.

Happy Birthday Vista!

It provide us with a new User Interface (UI), and I remember I used to copy its UI by downloading tons of different Windows Vista theme for XP. :woot:

Vista is not that bad especially when SP1 and SP2 came out. I have 1 year of experience in Vista SP1 and I love the way it handles system recovery (it saves most of my important files). But now I'm using Windows 7 a major improvement over vista, and many IT experts says it should be an SP3 update to Vista (don't ask me why)

Happy birthday Vista :)

Leave apple out it. Apple can only take advantage of weak points or gullible people.
Vista had its good and obviously its weak points.

I hated it on my laptop, liked on my desktop.

If you have nothing good to say bout Vista think of it this way:
Vista paved the way for W7 :)

I cant say Vista was a bad OS. I really enjoyed it and was changing from XP to Vista the same time Vista got released. I was using its beta versions also. I really lov the UI of Vista and i like the taskbar more then 7's.

For those that think the opposite of "Vista is good" i can tell you this: Everything can not be done perfectly. But to do it more perfect you'll just have to be used to what youve got and start from there.

Happy birthday Vista :)

Exactly why I like vista. Without vista, we wouldn't have Windows 7 in it's current form.

i'm not saying vista is bad either, I actually liked vista on my Pentium 4 HT 3.0ghz single core desktop with 1.5GB of RAM and a 256mb nvidia geforce 7300gt (i'm serious). Sure it was slower than XP, but it was completely usable even at RTM (for me anyway). SP1 and SP2 simply made it slightly better. It never crashed for me, never had a BSOD on it either. I also liked vista's aero UI and to be honest, Microsoft surprised me pleasantly with vista. I also liked vista's windows explorer and until today, I still miss WMP 11 and Windows Movie Maker 6 on vista. It was good stuff, especially WMP11.

On laptops however, let's just say vista sucked on laptops.

Oh, and if there is one thing that sucks about vista, it's UAC. UAC was so horribly annoying in vista that I actually disabled it despite many tech experts recommending not to do so.

I like Vista a lot. I think, it is fast and stable OS. Is very user friendly, and have nice UI. I am using it for more than two years without reinstall and any other problems.

Happy birthday Vista! B)

I totally agree... If Apple didn't make vista seem SO bad then, sure it may have failed, but that would have been the choice of the user not a Anti-Vista campaign by Apple, regardless of any campaign they have windows users will always be the majority, and Apple users will always be the minority.

Windows Vista was revolutionary step in technology and computers, sure... It had its issues but doesn't everything?

Happy Birthday Vista!

for me Windows and Mac are two different realms and anyone with enough interest in computing should have both. Hate campaigns are for people who just want to feel good about their hardware. Both have things the other does not, whether in the form of apps or features. You're better off living both worlds. choosing one is only a matter of what you personally need. I hate haters :/

6 months on and I'm still for Vista. A poll at my www.vista-themes.net fan site shows interest is still strong :)
