Ubuntu 10.10 killed my interest in Linux, until that error of a distro I was happily learning linux

That's the part of learning. Remove it and install 10.04

or simple wait for linux mint's new version to come out, and use that.

I support this I really enjoy using Mint

Yup!  LM is the 4th most popular Linux Distro of all time (or so it has been reported to be true)

GNU/Linux is about choices. If you don't like Ubuntu try Linux Mint, if you don't like Linux Mint try OpenSuse, if you don't like OpenSuse try Arch Linux ...

I don't think it's dead. It will get a great boost as soon as devices are sold with chrome os!

Android is already giving it a real boost.

Until they make it as user friendly as OSX and Vista in my eyes its dead. Especially since they dont have a popular manufacturer that can use their OS for mass production.

With Google's Chrome OS and the rising market share that Android-powered devices are grabbing, I see the Linux desktop growing as well. What is needed is something, ala iTunes, to marry the device with the desktop. You can then build around that with a solid product and savvy marketing. Think about it, has anyone seen a Linux desktop commercial on tv?
