speed back up your Safari

If your Safari Web browser is freezing up on you when loading lots of tabs or just getting slower loading speeds than normal, your "Database.sqlite3" might be corrupted. It has something to do with the tracking of RSS feeds.

All you have to do is go to: [Username] > Library > PubSub > Database

move this file out of the folder to the desktop and delete it later:
Database.sqlite3

Quit Safari and restart it and it will create a new "Database.sqlite3" file and your Safari browser should be back to normal and fast!

You can also clean your RSS by clicking "Remove Now" under your the "RSS" tab in Safari's preference.

big thanks to the forum here!

To disable/enable RSS in Safari with Terminal: (Thanks to oneirist)

Disable RSS Support in Safari
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSyndicationEnabled 0

Enable RSS Support in Safari
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSyndicationEnabled 1

Pfft. GTFO, Apple doesn't freeze, nor does it have errors like this. This isn't Apple's fault, you're using it the wrong way.

Here at Apple, we're better than you.

lol. I think every Apple user knows about this with the latest Safari and it's add-ons. Every once in a while there is an error with new things. At least, there's a quick fix for it :) Can't say the same for other browsers.

Lol. I doubt you are going to see a fix for Windows. With Apple's smug sense of superiority, they'll most likely tell you that the problem is with Windows itself, maybe something about how there is a problem with the API that doesn't allow stable programs to be made, and that Safari works better on a Mac...

LOL! Ok maybe I took that line a bit far. Still, it's cool how easy a fix is to do.

Yea but eventually the database file is going to build up again is it not? You'll have to repeatedly do this fix until Apple decides to admit theres a problem and fix it.

That time it take them to fix it is the time Apple users are dropping Safari and Moving to Chrome/Firefox

Nope. Safari running beautifully :) I completely disabled the RSS, which was causing the problem. I don't use it anyway, so it's all good. I'm sure Apple will release a global fix for it shortly. Until then, I'm straight anyways.

You know, I have yet to find an alternative browser on mac that is as good as Safari on mac. Google chrome for mac loads webpages faster than safari, but its flash playback performance is absolutely horrible. Don't get me started on how slow Chrome mac's startup is (nowhere near how fast it is on windows). Oh, and its tabs are slow. The cons outweigh the pros.

Firefox on mac is pretty neat, but Safari on mac still feels faster. Maybe it is because Safari's integrated into the OS, I dunno.
