Microsoft has announced officially the availability of the first public Beta of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. The SP1 is 1.22 GB in size and the build number is 7601.16562.100603-1800. This is the same build which was available for download for selected testers in June, and later got leaked.
The public availability of Windows 7 SP1 Beta was announced in June 2010 by Microsoft, and speculation already indicated that the service pack was planned for delivery at WPC 2010. Service Pack 1 is the first upgrade to Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, with the two operating systems being updated per the Windows Vista SP1/SP2 and Windows Server 2008 SP1/SP2 model.
SP1 will only contain fixes and optimizations, but will not introduce any new features, where as Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 will offer new features such as RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory.
