I try to avoid Windows re-installation.

It's not the good idea, as I need to reinstall everything not only the OS.

I mean Visual Studio, Libraries, Adobe's, Research stuffs, and so forth.

What a heavy duty. <_<

I do it every few months because I like starting up from fresh again. Runs faster and I get a weird satisfaction when I install everything again lol.

Hrhr that is a quit common thing actually. Just google the following:

Mens sana in corpore sano

Or even better: Mens sana in computer sano ;)

wtf 15 days and 2 months is still a very short amount of time - it would take me that long to get everything back to normal (as in reinstalling all programs and stuff)

That's a pretty big fail if you get viruses that often - you should install a good AV before connecting to the internet.

Or if your pirating to stop doing so, or if not pirating, dont use Keygens or such, pr app patchers. they are at times infected with viruses or malware.

I guess I'm the odd one out...

I have this computer since 2003 and never reinstalled XP :)

The weird thing is that it doesn't run slow or anything. Either way I am thinking about reinstalling, but the main reason is that through the years a lot of old files have accumulated and I have a dll clusterf**k + remaining files from uninstalled programs and stuff that waste my precious hdd space.

Almost 7 years without reformatting... how's that for stability?

Well, in my case its not about viruses/trojan. I just simply have so much software clogging up the overall system performance. What can I say, I can't stop tryin out anything App related, hence my rather not to few apart OS installations.

I reinstall it only when I have to (it doesn't boot anymore and I can't fix it, a new version of Windows is out etc).

This happens less often than before since I'm just using Windows in Boot Camp for two games.

If the OS is running fine, there is physically no need, but for alot of us, it is a ritual

guys 15 days is a short time i know but it takes 2 hrs to install 30 softwares like office, cracks, drivers,hp printer softwares, objectdocks, window blinds, daemon tools and nero takes the most timeetc.so whats the big deal in wasting 3 hr in 15 days if your pc runs at the top performance day in day out.i am on my pc nearly for 15 hrs a day and i love installing windows i dont know why even though i have zone alarm extreme security with eset.
