Click the Get it now link a few times if it doesn't work, you'll have to sign in with your live account and fill the form to download. The server load is quite high, currently downloading at 230 KB/s.

Will this update by previous Office 2010 technical preview (the one with the office logo, not the one with "File") installation? Or will it install to a different directory?

You can select to install in a different folder, but i had lots of problems because of that, ended up removing the previous office manually...

OK I need some serious help. I'm using XP SP3 32 bit. I uninstalled my previous installations of Office 07 and 2010 techincal preview and restarted after each uninstall. I downloaded the beta from MS site and installed it. I restarted my computer but when I open up an application I get "Product Activation Failed". And then when I click on change product key I get some error message telling me to review the log file (which I don't know where it is located).

So what exactly do I do :|

Are you sure the TP was completely uninstalled?

I remember when I had it, it refused to play nice during the uninstall.

TP? what's TP stand for - and I read somewhere that you won't get the red bar if you install it without internet connection but you still might get the 30 day thing...

And also, just in case, how do I make sure I uninstalled whatever TP is completely.

TP = Technical Preview

Just uninstall the 2010 you have installed now, then either run Ccleaner and clean out the registry, or just hunt manually for remnants through regedit

After youve cleaned your registry, restart (for mental reasons) then reinstall the Public Beta

Ok ok ...MS office is better than open office, but if you compare them you have to take the price into account. You cannot beat the price/quality of open office :)

Nice stuff from MS nonetheless.

How long can you use this?

Ok So Word can do a logo, so what? Is that the purpose of a word processor? It can do Publishing now. So what! if it cannot do what a real word processor should be doing and not to be a pain in the ass. Its so much troublesome troubleshooting DOCX documents when it is corrupted. I pointed out bugs (since 97 which I started using present until the this beta now) several times on this forum and they are still evident until now. Is it really unfixable? Maybe Microsoft should start from scrap.

Anyway it is approaching OpenOffice in the slowing down department. I know there is a solution (in OpenOffice) but at times it really do suck and slow. Nice to see Microsoft Office improving though. Excel and PowerPoint are super fantastic, I might not be needing a graphics application for the simple editing of graphics on my future electronic presentations. And they are some of the few reasons I still use Windows.
