Windows XP: If your Windows XP installation is acting up, sometimesa fix is as simple as tweaking a registry key. Rather than muck aboutin your registry looking for it, use XP Quick Fix Plus to patch thingsup. XP Quick Fix Plus is a tiny portable applicationthat presents 40 quick fixes arranged in a push-button chart. Press thebutton for the problem you're having like CDs not autoplaying, fileassociations grayed out, the boot.ini tab missing in MSCONFIG, or anyof the other 40 common problems, and XP Quick Fix Plus will patch theregistry key for the problem you're having and get things back inworking order.

Not sure if the button covers the problem you're having? Mousingover the buttons gives you a detailed description of the problem. Havea favorite quick-fix tool to share? Let's hear about it in thecomments. XP Quick Fix Plus is freeware, Windows only.

huh? I would much rather prefer a list or a combo button with a go button, but whatever. Personal prefs, i guess.

Agree - I have the registry entries to fix most of this on stand by...

Here are a couple of things:

I have my computer display (screen resolution) set at 800 x 600.

When I opened the application, I had to set it at 1024 x 768 in order to see the right-hand side.

Please see attached screen shot...

Is there a way so that the program can automatically detect and use whatever screen resolution the user has currently set?

You should also check out Kelly's Korner - Tips and Tweaks - My thinking was that you could expand on what you have now, so instead of 40 "Quick Fixes" between this site and others that I could direct you to, I bet you could get that number into the 500 range - maybe more?

With that many, you might want to break it down by "Windows Explorer" or "Internet Explorer" or "Hard Drive" or maybe by type of tweak or tip, etc.

I'd also think about taking it to the next level with a "Quick Fixes Plus" for Windows 7 - many have updated already and many more will upgrade in the years to come.

Great little program - I'll keep a copy "just in case"! Attached File  winky1.gif (5.03K)

Just my 2 cents,

Great tool - weird thing is that I have never got any of these problems but all of a sudden today, I got the problem where files and drives would open up the search dialogue thing and the only way to open folders and drives would be to right click the folder/drive and click open. Then I remember reading about this so I quickly tried it out and it instantly fixed the problem :D

@poolsharkzz

Who uses 800x600 now a days  and even 1024x768 is barely used. Why don't you just increase your screen res so you can have more space on your screen and have higher def images

Yeah, I know...

I have to have it that way cause my flat panel is approx 4 feet away from where I sit / where the keyboard and mouse is - it's how my desk is configured - it's an old cherry wood "big cheeze's" desk I picked up cause I thought it looked cool - you would have to see it to understand how I have it laid out...

It makes things on the screen a little bigger thus making things a little easier for my almost 40 year old eyes when viewing the screen...

The next thing I am updating is my flat panel, from a 19 inch to a 30 inch - then after that is buy a new and more ergonomic computer desk to go with my new office that I am in the process of building in the basement.

Then I will be able to enjoy the higher def images in more detail! Attached File  yahoo.gif (6.22K)
