Chuck Anderson is the creator of Windows 7's default wallpaper, login screen and box art.

He is the embodiment of the dreams of thousands of DeviantArt users—he started out in screenprinting just after high school, worked for t-shirt maker Threadless by day and began creating a name for himself in the online art community by night. Under the pseudonym NoPattern (now the name of his design shop), he achieved incredible success at a startlingly young age: You've seen his work before on projects with Pepsi, Urban Outfitters, Reebok, and many more.

His designs for Windows 7 will literally be seen by hundreds of millions of people over the lifespan of the OS.

Lucky man, he's like living a dream right now. The default wallpaper is awesome too, it's one that I actually used for a short time, the XP default I didn't really like and the Vista one was meh

Not bad, but you can find better artists on WinMatrix's Released Icons and Wallpapers thread.

So they have the money to send out free CDs, but not take one budding artist from dA like MS did to make some kickass artwork?

I personally don't like these new backgrounds, too plain. IMO the Windows Aurora series were the best default wallpaper and login made for windows...

What do they have to fix? They don't write 99% of the OS.

They just let the OSS community do it for them.

The box art and login screen wallpaper look good.

The default wallpaper is terrible.
