Couple days ago, Canonical unleashed Release Candidate version of the upcoming Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. The RC fixed certain bugs and certainly are stable enough as the real version coming out next week. Some changes occured in RC version compared to the last updated Ubuntu 9.10 beta.
The RC include some updates:
- Fade-in/fade-out animation to the boot splash.
- HAL has been replaced by DeviceKit-power, DeviceKit-disks and udev, in order to provide a better power management, better handling of the hotkeys on laptops and better handling of storage devices.
- Linux kernel 2.6.31.1
- KMS (Kernel Mode Setting) is enabled by default for the owners of Intel's graphic cards.
- The old linux-restricted-modules package has been replaced by DKMS
- New software: Quickly
With this new upcoming Ubuntu, i want to say Happy Birthday, Ubuntu!
